FAQ
From Shopify Wiki
Q: How does Shopify charge its fees?
A: Shopify's fees are taken once a month. When your billing cycle is over you will be sent an email which will contain a link to a page in your admin site that shows all the transaction fees that you are going to be billed on your sales. At that point you have seven days to "dispute" any sales that were from test transactions or which may not have gone through. Once the seven day period is up, your credit card will automatically be charged.
Q: What does Shopify charge its transaction fees on?
A: Shopify charges its transaction fees on the total size of the transactions (cost of products + tax + shipping). Please note that we do not charge tax on shipping (your shipping company does).
Q: How can I test orders without being charged commission?
A: To do test orders on Shopify you should set your checkout to use the Bogus Gateway. To do this, go to the "Preferences Tab" and click on "Checkout and Payment". Then under "Accept Credit Card Payments" choose "Bogus Gateway" from the drop down menu. Using the Bogus Gateway will allow you to do test transactions without being charged a commission. If you want to test that one of your payment gateways have been set up correctly then you should do a transaction for a negligible amount and then dispute the commission as explained above.
Q: Can I route a domain name that I own to my shopify shop?
A: Yes. Here are the relevant links to help you with setting up domains:
Q: Can you add sub-menus in Shopify?
A: Shopify does sub-menus by using product tags. This means that when you add a product you should add tags to that product. When you add that product to a collection, and add the collection to the menu, the tags will show up on the collections page. That means if you create a linked collection called "Fishing", users can drill down using the tags associated with the products in the "Fishing" collection. Some tags would be, "fishing rods", "fishing reels" and "fishing books" etc... When you click on "fishing rods" it would show you only the "fishing rods" in the collection. Just remember tags only show on Collection pages.
Q: Can you create custom fields or attributes in Shopify?

Q: How does Shopify calculate shipping?
A: Shopify, calculates the shipping rates based on weight classes you create. When a purchase is being made Shopify calculates the weight of the cart at checkout and applies the applicable shipping rate. If you go to the Preferences Tab and click on "Shipping" You can create new shipping rates and apply those rates to countries that you would like to ship to.
Q: What credit card gateways does Shopify integrate with?
A: "These ones":http://www.shopify.com/faq/#customer-payment-methods
Q: How can I add an image to a page that is not a product page?
A: To add an image to a page you can easily do so by using the upload image function below the textarea that you are editing.
Q: How can I translate the words in my shop?
A: Translation of the checkout screens is achieved by selecting a checkout language in the General Settings screen of Preferences. Translation of anything that a user sees outside of checkout is found in the liquid files. Go to the Assets tab. Then go to the Theme Editor. You would want to change the ones that end in .liquid - The english words you see that appear in the front end of your shop can be found in the .liquid files. You should be very careful when you do this and only change english words. If you change the english word to a french word, the french word will then show.
Q: How do I add a logo to my page?
A: Here is a link to a forum post about adding a logo to your page:

Remember to upload the logo as in the "Assets" tab. Then make sure that you use the correct image name when you replace the text
Q: I made a new collection called "Frontpage" but it doesn't show up on my shop's front page like the old one did. What's the problem?
A: Your shop's theme will always reference the _handle_ of a collection (the lower-case-dashed-name that forms part of its URL) and not its title. You probably renamed the original Frontpage collection to something else, but didn't change the handle. Because there already existed a collection with the handle "frontpage," the new Frontpage collection you made would have been given a handle of "frontpage-1."
You need to either edit the handles of your collections so that the one you want has a handle of "frontpage," or edit your index.liquid file in your theme to reference a different handle.
Q: How do I use Google Analytics with Shopify?
A: Since mid-2007 this is now a standard feature. Just look for "Statistics" in the General Settings tab within Preferences.
Q: How do I update or change the credit card information on my account?
A: To change your credit card you must be logged in as the Account Owner, as only they have access to that section of the Shops admin. Once logged in as the Account Owner, go to the Account area and use the "Change or update" link beside the Payment Method. Once you've input your new card and saved it Shopify will automatically reset your billing attempts and process the card shortly thereafter.
