What to Expect
Important: The Theme Settings differ from theme to theme.
This guide won't cover every possible theme setting, but we will give you a general overview of what to expect.
To edit your theme settings, go to Theme → Theme Settings:
Find Theme Settings
Theme settings are organized into sections titled Body, Colors, etc. You can collapse and expand each section by clicking on its title.
Here are some examples of Theme Settings screens:
Helvetica Theme Settings
Vanity Theme Settings
Sortable Theme Settings
Installing a Theme
If you want to change your theme:
1. Go to the Theme tab
2. Click "Browse the Theme Store"
3. When you've chosen a theme, click on "Get Theme"
4. Paid themes are non-refundable.
Important: before you change themes, read this: I would like to change theme. How do I do this?
Will I lose anything when I switch themes?
Yes. You will lose all your theme assets. You will lose your logo. You will lose all customization you had added to your theme's templates. Your installed apps may no longer work properly if they rely on some code added to your theme.
Any of these actions will erase your current theme settings:
- if you re-apply your theme (go to Theme → Browse Themes)
- if you apply a new theme (go to Theme → Browse Themes)
- if you upload a new theme (go to Theme → Template Editor)
Saving your Theme Settings with presets
If you want to experiment with different theme settings but do not want to lose your current settings, you can save your current settings by creating a preset. You can think of a 'preset' as a snapshot of your theme settings, a snapshot you can revert to ('roll back' to) at any time.
Theme Presets
It is a good practice when you start working with a new theme to save its default (manufacture if you will) settings as a preset. You could call that preset Default for example.

Downloading your theme (or uploading a theme)
You can download your theme by logging in to your admin area, going to the Template Editor page, and then clicking on the Download your theme link. Your theme will be e-mailed to you in a zip file, or a link will be provided so that you can download the zip file. You can also upload a zipped copy of your theme and apply it to your store on that same page.

Turning Back the clock
If you had made a backup of your old theme by downloading it, and if you want to go back to that old theme, you can easily upload it back to your shop.
Theme Settings
Here's what every theme's settings will give you:
- Logo upload
Note: Each theme will name the section under which you can upload your logo differently. It can be Images, Site Logo, Header, etc.
Theme Settings
Once the area where you can upload your logo is expanded (un-collapsed), you can use the Choose file button to locate the logo you wish to upload, then click Okay, and finally do not forget to Apply Changes, to upload your logo image.
Note: It can take some time for the changes to take effect as the files are sent to all servers across Shopify's content delivery network. If your new image isn't seen immediately, do not worry, simply wait a few hours and check back later. You can also clear your browser's cache files to facilitate the changes.
