While your shop's content and structure are built by adding products, collections, blogs, pages, and links, its visual layout and style are determined by the application of themes.

Theme gallery

Shopify includes a number of complete themes which can be applied to your shop with the click of a button. Different themes can affect the appearance of your shop in many ways, so it's probably worth spending some time seeing how the various themes work with your shop so that you can get some sense of the possibilities available to you. However, be aware that applying a new theme will overwrite any changes you have made on your current theme.

Customization

After exploring the pre-made themes, you may want to further customize your shop's appearance. Shopify uses a templating language called *Liquid* to let you describe the look and feel of your shop. If you want to create a new theme from scratch or make any substantial alterations to an existing theme, you should download Shopify's design tool, Vision.

If you just want to make minor changes to your theme's templates, you can browse through and directly edit the files listed in the sidebar that compose your theme.
