From Shopify Wiki
Christina explained how to setup DNSMadeEasy in an answer to http://forums.shopify.com/categories/1/posts/15223#comment-15232
Basic Setup
- Login to your dnsmadeeasy account
- Click on “Classic Setup” ->Add New Domain
- Next screen: enter name “example.com” (without “www”), click “continue”.
- Next screen: confirm
- Next screen: you will be given information to pass on to your registrar, so that they’ll know where to find you. These are the dnsmadeeasy nameservers with the relevant IP addresses.
- Next screen: you will see a table listing your domain. Now click on “Records”, further along in the row.
- Next screen: go to CNAME records.Under “name”, enter “www”; under “value”, enter “example.myshopify.com”. Confirm if necessary.
- Next screen: go to Add HTTP Redirection records. Under “name”, enter nothing; under “value”, enter “http://www.your_domain_name.com”. Confirm if necessary. This will automatically redirect any incoming traffic from http://your_domain_name.com to http://www.your_domain_name.com and prevent any conflicts.
If you have mail going to another server, go to “MX Records”. Under “mail for this host”, enter “example.com”; under “sent to this server”, enter your mail server’s IP address, MX level 10. That’s it for dnsmadeeasy.
In Shopify
Go to your admin screen in Shopify. ->Preferences ->DNS & Domains. Click on “I would like to add another hostname” Enter www.example.com; then click on “make this my primary domain”.
