Activating, customizing, and troubleshooting Advanced Cash on Delivery
Activate and customize the Advanced Cash on Delivery payment method to offer a convenient payment option for your customers. Enhance their experience by adding an availability checker, providing a custom thank you message, and troubleshooting any issues that might arise with third-party fulfillment or accounting apps.

Activating the Cash on Delivery payment method
After you finish setting up the Advanced Cash on Delivery app, the next step is to activate the payment method so that it becomes available to your customers. To activate the Cash on Delivery payment method, in the banner at the top of the page, click Activate now.
Adding a Cash on Delivery availability checker
To provide your customers with the ability to check Cash on Delivery eligibility for their postal code, you can add an availability checker to your store's theme after you've activated Advanced Cash on Delivery payments for your store. This feature allows customers to determine if Cash on Delivery is available for their location.
Deactivating Advanced Cash on Delivery payments
If you no longer want to use the Advanced Cash on Delivery, then you can stop offering it at any time by deactivating it in your payment settings.
Troubleshoot Cash on Delivery orders
In some cases, third-party fulfillment or accounting apps might not recognize Cash on Delivery payments after you have updated the order using the Mark as paid button. If you use such apps and encounter this issue, then you can manually mark your Cash on Delivery order as paid on the Order details page.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Orders.
Click the order number.
From the More actions drop-down menu, select Mark as paid with cash.
Provide a custom thank you message
To enhance the customer experience, you can provide a custom thank you message that will be displayed on the order status page after a customer has successfully placed an order. This message can express your gratitude and provide any additional instructions or information.
Steps:
- Open the Advanced Cash on Delivery app.
- In the Additional instructions section, enter the desired thank you message in the provided text field.
- Click Save.
